Properties
-
Anti-mold treatmentThe property of a fabric with an anti-mold treatment means that it is designed to resist the growth of mold and mildew, providing a protective barrier against the proliferation of microorganisms that can cause stains and bad odors. These fabrics are treated with chemical agents that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew, keeping the garment fresh and free of contamination.
-
Anti-stainsThe property of a stain-resistant fabric refers to its ability to repel and resist the absorption of liquids and substances that could cause stains, making it easier to clean and maintain. These are treated with hydrophobic agents that prevent stains from penetrating the fibers, maintaining the appearance of the fabric for longer.
-
BreathableThe property of a breathable fabric refers to its ability to allow air and body moisture to pass through its fibers, facilitating evaporation and keeping the user cool and comfortable during physical activity or in hot climates. These fabrics are designed to promote ventilation and air circulation, reducing sweat accumulation and providing a feeling of lightness and comfort.
-
Double sided, protected fabricThe property of a double-sided fabric means that it has two different faces, each with different characteristics or uses, offering versatility and style options in a single piece. It is treated with water or stain repellent agents on one side, providing an additional layer of protection against external elements.
-
Maximum resistanceThe property of a maximum strength fabric refers to its ability to withstand extreme stresses and wear, maintaining its structural integrity and durability over time. These fabrics are designed with specific materials and weaving techniques that make them highly resistant to tearing, abrasion, and other types of mechanical damage.
-
Quick-dryingQuick-drying fabric refers to the ability to absorb moisture quickly and evaporate it efficiently, allowing the garment to dry faster after getting wet, resulting in a more comfortable and practical experience for the wearer. These fabrics are designed with synthetic fibers or special treatments that promote water evaporation, making them ideal for outdoor activities or humid environments.
-
Respectful productionThe ownership of a respectfully produced fabric refers to its manufacturing under practices that minimize environmental and social impact, prioritizing the sustainable use of natural resources and ethical working conditions. Usually, these fabrics originate from procedures that reduce the use of energy, water and chemicals, while ensuring respect for the rights of workers and nearby communities.
-
UV resistantThe property of an anti-UVI fabric implies the ability to block or reduce the penetration of ultraviolet radiation from the sun, providing a protective barrier against skin damage. This type of fabric is designed with materials and technologies that help prevent sunburn, premature skin aging, and the risk of skin cancer.
-
Water repellentThe property of a water-repellent fabric consists of its ability to prevent water from penetrating the fibers, providing protection against moisture and keeping the wearer dry in rainy or humid conditions. These fabrics are treated with hydrophobic chemicals that cause water to bead on the surface instead of being absorbed, making it easy to remove with a simple shake.

UV STANDARD 801

Regular care keeps Masacril® fabrics looking their best:
- Remove leaves, dust and other residue by gently brushing the dry fabric with a soft-bristle brush, or vacuum it.
- Wet the fabric and apply a solution of water and mild, neutral soap (max. 90°F) with a sponge or soft brush. Let it act for a few minutes and rub dirty areas gently.
- Rinse with a garden hose at moderate pressure. Never use a pressure washer: it can damage the technical treatments of the fabric and the seams.
- Let the fabric dry completely in the open air before rolling it up or storing it, to prevent mildew.
- Do not use solvents, abrasive products or harsh detergents.
For persistent mildew stains only, and as a last resort, apply a mixture of 1 part bleach, 2 parts soap and 7 parts water with a soft-bristle brush, then rinse with clean water. Use it in a well-ventilated area and do not mix it with other products.
How often: at least once a year in urban areas and about twice a year in coastal areas. A light cleaning at the beginning and end of each season is enough in most cases.
Barrier effect: all Sauleda acrylic fabrics are impregnated with Sauleda Fabric Protector, which reinforces their water repellency and delays dirt adherence. Agents such as acid rain or bird droppings, and washing with abrasive products, may damage the Sauleda Fabric Protector coating.
Warranty
Masacril® solution-dyed acrylic fabrics are backed by a warranty of up to 10 years under normal exposure to sun and weather.
- Coverage: abnormal deterioration of the fiber and the color of the fabric.
- The warranty starts on the installation date. Keep the installer's invoice: it is required to make a claim.
- It covers only the replacement of the fabric needed to restore the awning, not labor, removal or installation.
- Years 1–7: the damaged fabric is replaced with new fabric. Year 8: 50% discount on new fabric. Year 9: 25% discount. Year 10: 15% discount.
- Genuine Sauleda fabric carries the "S" mark on its selvage, which is required to access the warranty.
Not covered: hardware, mechanisms and structures; fabrication, installation and maintenance; normal aging and wear; damage from incorrect installation or abrasive cleaning; unusual weather, air pollution, pesticides, animal dirt or bird droppings; falling objects, burns, fire, traffic accidents or vandalism. Contact Sauleda USA to start a warranty claim.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Masacril® fabric made of?
It is a 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabric: the color is added to the fiber before it is spun, so it resists fading from sunlight. It is treated with Sauleda Fabric Protector for water and stain repellency.
Is it waterproof?
Masacril® is water-repellent and breathable rather than fully waterproof, with a water column of 14.17".
What widths are available?
This fabric is available in 47" width.
How long are the rolls?
Standard roll length is 65.6 yd / 109.4 yd.
How do I clean it?
Brush or vacuum off loose dirt and occasionally clean with water and mild soap (max. 90°F), then rinse and let dry. Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents.
Can I use a pressure washer?
No. Pressurized water can damage the technical treatments of the fabric and even the seams. Always clean with water, neutral soap and a soft-bristle brush.
Is the fabric self-cleaning?
Its finish prevents dirt from setting and makes cleaning easier: rain washes away the surface layer of dirt, although it does not remove stains or embedded dirt.
How can I tell it is genuine Sauleda fabric?
Sauleda marks the selvage of its fabrics with an "S". This mark is required to access the warranty.
What warranty does it have?
Masacril® fabrics are backed by a warranty of up to 10 years under normal exposure to sun and weather, starting on the installation date.
