The founding years
1897

Founding of Lluveras y Sauleda S.A.

Founded by Victoriano Sauleda in Sant Pol de Mar, the company brought together his children and the Lluveras family — the first thread of a textile group that would span generations.

1925

José Sauleda company founded

After more than four decades in Sant Pol de Mar, Josep Sauleda i Paulís formally established the José Sauleda company, carrying the family trade into its next chapter.

1967

Sauleda S.A. is founded

The company that carries the Sauleda name today — now with more than 125 years of history and over 450 employees.

1981

Sauleda goes international

The company begins attending textile trade fairs worldwide and exporting internationally for the first time.

1967

Relocation to Santa Maria d'Oló

The new factory still preserves two Modernist façades and is protected today as Cultural Heritage.

1992

Sauleda yarn mill founded in Gironella

From this point on, Sauleda controls the entire production process vertically — from raw fiber to finished fabric.

1997

Sauleda's centennial

On its 100th anniversary, the Sauleda family gathers with clients and employees to celebrate a century of growth since its founding.

2011

Acquisition of Tuvatextil, S.L.

A company specialized in outdoor upholstery. The Agora brand of high-quality indoor and outdoor upholstery fabrics is born from the shared expertise of two specialists: Sauleda and Tuvatextil.

2004

New coated fabrics plant opens in Berga

Full-circle service has long been a Sauleda priority. PVC-coated fabrics become a core part of the business, with this plant built to give laminated textiles the best possible service.

Growth and innovation
2020

Green launches — the first air-purifying fabric

Developed with Pureti, GREEN fabrics clean the air through photocatalysis, breaking down pollutants like NOx, SOx and VOCs. Self-cleaning and mold-resistant — Sauleda's commitment to the environment and people's health.

2021

Acquisition of Jak Spinning

Responding to rising market demand, Sauleda invests in a spinning plant with two active lines in Ják, Hungary, adding capacity and flexibility of supply.

2019

New warping center — logistics hub in Sallent

Sauleda relocates warping production to its new site in Sallent, which also becomes the logistics hub for yarn — over 120 yarn references stocked and distributed to production centers as needed.

2021

Acquisition of a plant and land in Avinyó

Sauleda acquires a textile facility in the Bages region with over 50,000 m² of buildable land — a new step forward in its commitment to local industry and future growth.

2022

Loop launches

Sauleda's sustainable fabric, made from its own factories' textile waste and developed with technology that stays true to the company's environmental commitment.

2022

Agora Showroom opens in Jakarta

Recognizing the growing importance of Southeast Asia in upholstery and garment manufacturing, Sauleda strengthens its regional presence with an Agora showroom hosting client events and fabric training.

Sauleda's 125th anniversary

At the InterContinental Hotel in Madrid, the Sauleda family celebrated the company's founding with 400 guests — clients and friends from around the world, gathered for a gala dinner to look back and share memories.

Sauleda USA is founded

Sauleda USA is created, bringing together the best of Covin Sales and Sauleda to serve the North American market directly.

2024

Acquisition of Eurotronic

To meet the latest market demands and adopt the sector's newest innovations, Sauleda acquires Eurotronic, specialists in motorization and automation for awnings, blinds and curtains.

2026

Distritecno joins the group

Sauleda acquires Distritecno, a distributor of visual communication materials — vinyls, banners and large-format printing supplies — broadening the group's offering for sign and print professionals.

2026

Citel joins the group

Sauleda acquires a majority stake in Citel, a family-run textile company founded in 1875 and specialized in technical fabrics for outdoor living — strengthening the group's vertically integrated production.
